How to activate your Subkick Caption license key in Premiere Pro

Step by step

1. Get your key — On subkickcaption.com, click Download and enter your email. Your key appears on the download page and arrives by email.

2. Open the panel — In Premiere Pro, go to Window › Extensions › Subkick Caption. The panel shows Activate Subkick Caption.

3. Paste and activate — Paste your SKCP-… key in the field and click Activate. The panel unlocks.

4. Confirm your email — Click Confirm my email in the email we sent you, within 24 hours.

What is a Subkick Caption license key?

Your license key is a code in the format SKCP-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. It identifies your license — Free, Pro or Max — and unlocks the panel in Premiere Pro. There is no account or password to remember: the key and your email address are all you need.

• Free keys are created when you sign up with your email on subkickcaption.com, with no credit card.
• Pro and Max subscriptions are attached to a license too. Subscribe with the same email address (or from the panel) and your existing license is upgraded — you keep the same key.

Why it matters: the key keeps your plan, your transcription credits and your free trial words tied to you, whatever happens to the panel. Reinstalling the plugin or updating it never resets them.

How to get your key

1. On subkickcaption.com, click Download.
2. Type your address in Your email and click Download.
3. The download page opens on Your build is ready. Your key is in the Your license key box — click Copy.
4. You also receive an email with the same key and a button to the download.

Note: if the address already has a license, we don’t create a second one: we resend your existing key.

How to activate the key in the panel

1. Open Premiere Pro, then Window › Extensions › Subkick Caption.
2. The panel shows Activate Subkick Caption — Enter your license key to unlock the plugin.
3. Paste your key (Ctrl+V, or Cmd+V on Mac) and click Activate.
4. Activating… appears for a moment, then the panel unlocks.

You only do this once per computer. The panel checks your license each time it starts, which is why it needs an Internet connection. Next step: your first animated captions.

Check which plan is active

Click ⚙ (top right of the panel), then Settings › General › License. The first line tells you where you stand:

What you see	Meaning
✓ Active (free plan) — your@email	Free plan, activated on this computer.
✓ Active (Pro) — your@email	Pro subscription active.
✓ Active (Max) — your@email	Max subscription active.
⚠ Payment failed: update your card…	Your last payment didn’t go through: the license is back on Free until the card is updated.
⚠ Offline — connection required.	The panel can’t reach our server: check your connection.
✕ Not activated.	No key on this computer yet.

How to confirm your email address

Right after signing up, we email you a confirmation link. Click Confirm my email in that email within 24 hours. Until then, the panel reminds you with Confirm your email; after 24 hours, the plugin pauses until the address is confirmed.

If the panel shows Confirm your email address:

1. Open the email we sent you (check your spam folder too) and click Confirm my email.
2. Come back to the panel and click Retry.
3. No email? Click Resend the email. ✓ Email sent — check your inbox confirms it left.
4. Typo in your address? Click Not the right address?, type the correct one and click Send to this address.

Note: temporary (disposable) email addresses are not accepted. Use an address you really read: it’s where your key, your receipts and our replies go.

How to recover a lost key

You have three ways to get your key back, all by email:

• In the panel: on the activation screen, click I don’t have my license key, type your email and click Email me my key.
• On the website: open Recover my key (also linked at the bottom of every page of subkickcaption.com).
• On the download page: under the key field, click Recover it by email.

Tip: the key email can land in your spam or junk folder. Search your mailbox for “Subkick Caption” before asking again — the key can be resent a few times a day.

How to move your license to another computer

One key = one computer at a time. When you change computers, you re-link the key to the new one in a minute:

1. Install the plugin on the new computer, open the panel and paste your key.
2. The panel shows Switch computer — Your license is linked to another PC — re-link it to this one in seconds. Click 💻 Use the plugin on this computer.
3. The Reset my machine page opens on subkickcaption.com. Enter your email and your key, then click Get a code.
4. Type the 6-digit code we just emailed you and click Unlink my machine.
5. Back in the panel, activate your key again: it is now linked to this computer.

You can also open the Reset my machine page directly, for example if the old computer is broken or gone.

Note: the first reset is immediate. After that, a pause applies between two resets of the same key (1 hour, then 24 hours), so a key can’t hop between machines all day.

What “Deactivate on this PC” does

In ⚙ › Settings › General › License, Deactivate on this PC removes the key from the panel on this computer (handy before lending or selling it). It does not unlink the license on our side: to use the key on another computer, go through Reset my machine as above.

Note: on the Free plan, the free trial words are counted per license and per computer: moving to a new computer doesn’t give you a fresh set of words.

If activation fails

Message	What to do
Invalid key format — expected: SKCP-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.	Copy-paste the key from the email rather than typing it.
Unknown key.	Check that you are using the key from the right email, or recover it by email.
This license has been deactivated. / This license has expired.	Contact us: open ⚙ › ✉ Contact.
Connection required	Subkick Caption needs Internet to verify your license. Check your connection, then Retry.
License not authenticated	Something (often an antivirus or a company proxy) alters the connection. Try another network, then Retry.
Computer not identified	Restart Premiere Pro, or click Retry.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find my Subkick Caption license key?

It is shown on the download page right after you sign up, and it is in the email we send you. If you lost it, click I don't have my license key in the panel, or use Recover my key on subkickcaption.com: we email it to you again.

Is the Subkick Caption license key free?

Yes. Signing up with your email gives you a free key (Free plan), with no credit card. If you later subscribe to Pro or Max with the same email address, the same license is upgraded.

Can I use one Subkick Caption license on two computers?

A key is active on one computer at a time. To switch, activate it on the new computer and click Use the plugin on this computer: the Reset my machine page unlinks the old computer after you confirm a 6-digit code sent by email.

Why does Subkick Caption ask me to confirm my email address?

Your free key is tied to your email address. If the address isn't confirmed within 24 hours, the plugin pauses until you click the link in the confirmation email. You can resend it, or fix a typo in the address, right from the panel.

Does Subkick Caption work offline?

No. Subkick Caption needs an Internet connection to check your license, run AI transcription and get updates. If you are offline, the panel shows Connection required.

What does “Unknown key” mean?

The key doesn't match any license. Copy-paste it from your email instead of typing it: the expected format is SKCP-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.
