How to install Subkick Caption in Adobe Premiere Pro (Windows and macOS)
In short
Subkick Caption installs like any Premiere Pro panel: enter your email on subkickcaption.com to get your free key and the download, run the installer for your system with Premiere Pro closed, then open Window › Extensions › Subkick Caption. You need Adobe Premiere Pro 2025 or later, on Windows or macOS — no After Effects. It takes about two minutes.
Step by step
Check the requirements — Adobe Premiere Pro 2025 or later, on Windows or macOS. Nothing else is needed: no After Effects, no extra app.
Get your key and the download — On subkickcaption.com, click Download, enter your email and click Download again: your license key and the download page appear right away.
Install — Close Premiere Pro. On Windows, unzip the file and double-click install.bat. On macOS, unzip the file and double-click the .pkg installer.
Open the panel — Reopen Premiere Pro and go to Window › Extensions › Subkick Caption.
Activate — On first launch, paste your license key (SKCP-…) in the panel and confirm.
What you need before installing
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Adobe Premiere Pro | Version 2025 or later (check it in Help › About Premiere Pro on Windows, Premiere Pro › About Premiere Pro on macOS). |
| System | Windows or macOS. |
| After Effects | Not needed. The animated render is built into the plugin. |
| Account | Just an email address: the Free plan needs no credit card. |
| Internet | Needed to activate your key and to use AI transcription. Generation itself runs on your computer. |
Why it matters: Subkick Caption is a panel that lives inside Premiere Pro. There is no separate app to open, no file to export and re-import: you transcribe, style, place and generate without leaving your edit.
Step 1 — Get your free key and the download
- Go to subkickcaption.com and click Download (at the top right of the menu, or the big button in the middle of the home page).
- A window opens: Download Subkick Caption. Type your email in Your email, then click Download.
- The message All set! Taking you to your download… appears and the download page opens. It shows Your build is ready, your license key (format
SKCP-…, with a Copy button) and a choice between Windows and macOS. - Pick your system and click Download — Windows or Download — macOS. You get a
.zipfile.
Note: you also receive an email to confirm your address. Click the link in it within 24 hours: after that, the plugin pauses until the address is confirmed (a button in the panel lets you resend the email).
Already have a key? On the download page, click I already have a license, paste your key and click Check my license: the download appears. Lost your key? Use Recover it by email — see Activate your license key.
Step 2 — Install on Windows
- Unzip the downloaded
.zipfile (right-click › Extract All…). - Close Premiere Pro if it’s open.
- In the extracted folder, double-click
install.batand follow the steps in the window that opens. - When it’s done, reopen Premiere Pro.
Tip: keep the
.zipsomewhere until the panel opens correctly — if something went wrong, you can runinstall.batagain without downloading anything.
Step 2 — Install on macOS
- Double-click the downloaded
.zipfile to unzip it. - Double-click the
.pkginstaller and follow it (Continue › Install, then your Mac password if macOS asks for it). - Restart Premiere Pro.
The macOS installer is signed and notarized by Apple: no “unidentified developer” warning, no security setting to change.
Step 3 — Open the panel in Premiere Pro
- In Premiere Pro, open the Window menu.
- Go to Extensions › Subkick Caption.
- The panel opens. Drag its tab to dock it next to your timeline or your Program monitor, and make it as large as you like — the Layout step uses a full-screen preview, so a wide panel is more comfortable.
Tip: once the panel is placed where you want it, save your workspace (Window › Workspaces › Save as New Workspace…): Subkick Caption will reopen in the same spot every time.
Step 4 — Activate your key
On first launch, the panel asks for your license key. Paste the SKCP-… key you copied on the download page (it is also in your email) and confirm. You only do this once: the key is linked to this computer and the plugin remembers it.
Everything about the key — Free or paid, confirming your email, moving to another computer — is in Activate your license key.
Updating Subkick Caption
You never need to reinstall to update. When a new version is available, a red dot appears on the ⚙ gear at the top right of the panel. Open it and click ⬇ Install. Your captions, presets and settings are kept.
If the panel doesn’t appear
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Subkick Caption is missing from Window › Extensions | Check your Premiere Pro version: it must be 2025 or later. Update it from the Creative Cloud app, then reopen Premiere Pro. |
| It’s still missing on Premiere Pro 2025+ | Quit Premiere Pro completely, run the installer again (install.bat on Windows, the .pkg on macOS), then reopen Premiere Pro. |
| The panel opens but asks for a key you can’t find | Use Recover it by email on the download page, or see Activate your license key. |
| The panel says your email isn’t confirmed | Click the link in the confirmation email, or resend it from the panel. |
Still stuck? In the panel, click ⚙, then ✉ Contact, and write to us: your message can include a technical diagnostic that helps us find the cause quickly. More fixes in Troubleshooting.
